Bogart - H.A. "Buddy" Shadden, 73, of Bogart, passed away at 2 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2011 while in extended care at a local hospital. He passed peacefully with his family by his side.
Buddy was born in Whitehall on August 24, 1937. He was the younger of two sons born to Elmer and Theo Shadden, who preceded him in death. He graduated from University High School in 1956. Buddy worked as a local truck driver for Brown Transport and Roadway Express when he retired in 1997 as a Million Mile Safe Driver.
Buddy was of the Baptist faith. His hobbies were playing country and gospel music on his guitar, coaching little league baseball and spending time with his three sons and grandson. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Stephenson Shadden; sons, Hugh Avery, Jr., Joseph Alan and David Andrew Shadden; grandson, Stephen Avery Shadden, and daughter-in-law, Rita Nelms Shadden, all of Oconee County.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with the Revs. Ray Finger, Lee Hunter and Mr. Avery Shadden officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Clint Milford, Matt Hughes, Marc Hughes, Alex Huff, Stiles Lovern and Mike Goulet.
The family will welcome friends and family at the funeral home on Monday, June 20 from 6 until 8 p.m.
