Grady Albert Vaughn

Grady "Albert" Vaughn, 70, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Piedmont Hospital.
Born in Madison County on August 19, 1941, he was a son of the late Herbert Lee and Nellie Mae Vaughn. He served in the Postal Unit of the Army Reserves for six years. At Mercer Extension, he began a life-long study and love of the Bible. He later attended Toccoa Falls College and was ordained as a minister on February 15, 1976. He served as pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Stephens, GA and Providence Baptist Church in Pocataligo, GA. He had a genuine love for his congregation and the surrounding community. He considered serving others as the highest honor and privilege of his life.
Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Billie Clarke Vaughn of Ila; daughter and son-in-law, Lorie and Jerry Skelton of Ila; granddaughters, Heather, Merry, Abigail and Lydia Skelton of Ila; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Peggy Vaughn of Commerce; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church with Revs. John Griffeth, Robby Brown, Dr. Lex Bowen and Dayton Logan officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Providence Baptist Church and fellow pastors in this area.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 529, Ila, GA or Gideon's International.
Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.
