Grady Carlton Glenn, Jr.

Grady C. Glenn, Jr, age 91, died peacefully on December 28, 2023 after a brief hospital stay.

Grady was born on April 12, 1932 in Oglethorpe County, GA. He was the only child of Grady C. Glenn, Sr and Dorothy Tiller Glenn.   He had one half-brother, Fred Glenn of Carlton, GA.

Grady graduated from Elbert County High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955.  He began his career at Westinghouse in Athens, GA shortly after leaving the Air Force.

He met his loving wife Jeannette in 1959, and they were married in April 1961.  They settled in Carlton, Georgia and lived there until December 2020. Grady was a devoted husband who loved and served his wife for 62 years. They were members of Comer Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.

Grady was a hard worker known for his ability to fix just about anything.  His aptitude for all things mechanical and electrical served him well in life and in his career as an electronics technician. He was meticulous in completing every task and took great pride in a job well done. His most favorite pastime was fishing and he went as often as possible over the years. His prize was the 9 lb 1 oz largemouth bass caught in Glenn Lake. Other hobbies included tending to his flower gardens, photography, and genealogy.  He was so proud of his family and nothing made him happier than to sit and talk with them and ask questions about their lives.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Canada Glenn; children, Jeffery (Martha) Glenn of Gainesville, GA; Joni (Alan) Benson of Hoschton, GA; his grand and great grandchildren, Janine (Ash) Harris, Areli, Zara, and Arden of Chicago, IL; Matthew (Emily) Benson, Ezra and Micah of Wendell, NC; Morgan (Logan) Greenhaw of Hendersonville, NC; Cory (Hannah) Benson of Hoschton, GA; and nephew, Don Glenn of Carlton, GA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Grady C. Glenn, Sr and Dorothy Tiller Glenn, and his half-brother Fred Glenn.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 2:30 PM in the chapel of Lord & Stephens, Danielsville. Interment will immediately follow at Carlton Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
