Athens, GA - Grace Jenkins Fincher, of Talmadge Terrace died July 12, 2005. Grace was born in Wiley, Georgia on September 7, 1920 to James Condor Jenkins and Elizabeth Pitts Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Gordon Fincher, a son, William L. Fincher, Sr. and two sisters, Willene Dunn and Kathleen Bleckley.
Mrs. Fincher and her husband, Gordon served United Methodist Churches in Blairsville, Clarkesville, Gainesville, Lexington, Fairmount, Statham, Appalachee, Sugar Valley, Jenkinsburg, Canon and Colbert from 1951 to 1978. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed gardening and sewing before her health declined. Her family was her pride and joy, as she was theirs.
Mrs. Fincher is survived by one son, Bob Fincher and wife, Glenda, of Duluth and four daughters, Elizabeth Nevil of Athens, Diane Bell of Athens, Donna Pahl and husband, Wayne, of Athens, and Martha Ashworth and husband, Greg, of Watkinsville. She had 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister and brother, Joyce Cragg and Jesse Jenkins, both of Wiley.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Lord and Stephens, EAST. Funeral services will be Friday, July 14, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Colbert United Methodist Church with Dr. Carolyn Morris, Rev. Peggy Little, and Rev. Jim Haralson officiating. Interment will follow at Colbert Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Elizabeth Nevil, Mary Marlowe, Glenda Fincher, Sharell Lewis, Diane Bell, Angie Bell, Donna Pahl, Joyce Cragg, Martha Ashworth, Lauren Ashworth.
