Gladys Thoit Smith Slay, 96, wife the late Melvin E. "Jack" Slay, Sr., died October 22, 2016. Born in Oglethorpe County, William and Maude Ledford Smith and mother of the late William R. Slay, Sr. Survivors include her daughter Beverly Slay (Donald Davis of Cleveland, GA) Paradise of Lexington, Melvin E. "Gene" (Loretta) Slay, Jr. of Watkinsville, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a number of great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2PM at Collier Baptist Church with Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 at Lord & Stephens Danielsville Chapel. Lord & Stephens Danielsville is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com
