Lexington, GA - William Gerald Holmes, 76, passed away December 7, 2008.
A native and longtime resident of Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late James E. and Pearl Tiller Holmes and was preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Holmes. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Westinghouse after thirty-three years. He was a member of Lighthouse Evangelical Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Lighthouse Evangelical Methodist Church with Rev. Donnie Morgan officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Bertie L. Holmes; daughter, Debra Holmes; sister, Katherine Holmes, all of Lexington.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice.
Lord and Stephens Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
