George “Lamar” Bridges, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at his home.
Born on November 25, 1946 to the late George Lamar Sr. and Katie Lou Bridges, Lamar graduated from Oglethorpe County High School in 1964. He went on to attend the University of Georgia where he was selected during the draft. He served for four years in the United States Air Force as a crew chief mechanic. Lamar then went on to become an owner of a franchise with the Murray Cookie Company where he would earn his nickname “The Cookie Man.” He loved his grandchildren and was an avid outdoorsman. He could be found hunting or fishing in his free time.
In addition to his parents, Lamar was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sheryl.
He is survived by his three children Kerry Bridges (Melinda Pass) of Lexington, Kim Maloof (Paul) of Colbert, and Jason Bridges (Allison) of Crawford; four grandchildren: Lauren Tuck (Kyle) of Monroe, Lindsey Dailey (Josh) of Lexington, Amber and Kaylee Bridges of Crawford, Ben Maloof of Colbert, and two great-grandchildren Tanner Tuck and Holly Dailey.
A private service will be held at a later date.
