George Walter Smith

George Walter Smith, age 73 died Wednesday July 3, 2013. A native of Oglethorpe County Mr. Smith was the son of the late Cody and Maude Matthews Smith. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a sister Ann Laura Cooper and a brother James " Cracker" Smith. Mr. Smith was Air Force Veteran and was a retired Owner and Mechanic with Colbert Texaco.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 6, 2013 at 1:00pm at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville chapel. Rev. Marshall Tribble will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 52yrs. Paula Parham Smith; son; Shane (Larissa) Smith; sister; Mauline Drew; brother; Lester "Boy Blue" Smith; grandchildren; Myles Smith, Johnathan Gaines, Caleb Smith, and Sawyer Smith.
Pallbearers will be Bill Madden, Roger James, Mac McCannon, Steve Bates, Joe Dudley, Stanley Bates, Billy Ray Kidd, Randy Daniel, and Charles Hart Jr..
Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to: Athens Reginal Hospice Care.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday at the funeral home.
