George Stasyshyn, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Jefferson on Sunday October 9, 2022. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
George was born in Bethlehem Township, N.J. on April 27, 1931. He was the youngest of the twelve children of Anthony Stasyshyn and Anna Boysyshyn Stasyshyn. George grew up on the family farm where he learned to work on engines and build almost anything. These skills served him well in life and he taught his children and grandchildren to be handy as well.
George started his career working for the N.J. State Fish and Game. He later became a machinist at John’s Manville in N.J. George developed some labor-saving devices that were used at the plant, again using those skills he shared so freely.
George never met a stranger. He was one of the friendliest people you will ever meet. He attended the First United Methodist Church when he lived in Washington, GA where he loved helping with the Angel Tree Christmas project.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Marion Frances Devlin Stasyshyn. He is survived by his four children: Debbie Holes (Bruce) of Washington, GA, George W. Stasyshyn (Nancy) of Washington, N.J., Donald Stasyshyn (Nancy) of Milford PA and Kevin Stasyshyn (Laura) of Jefferson, GA. He has nine grandchildren: Craig Holes (Yiskah), Jenni Seidner (Daniel). Kevin Stasyshyn Jr (Randell), Tyler Stasyshyn, Aaron Stasyshyn, Grant Stasyshyn, Krystyn Strouse (Mark), Eryka Stasyshyn, and eight great-grandchildren: Ian Stasyshyn, Harper Strouse, Haden Crawford, Elliana Stasyshyn, Aiden Stasyshyn, Jaxton Stasyshyn, Sofia Seidner, Eliora Seidner and Madeleine Holes.
