George Louis Sniff, 87, of Athens, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018. George was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Charles and Bernice Sniff. In high school, he won the Louisiana half-mile and mile state track championship at Francis T. Nichols High School. He was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and went on to become a Scout Leader. George attended LSU in Baton Rogue, LA, and served in the United States Navy Reserves. He had a successful 40 year career in sales and marketing, achieving the position of National Sales Manager. He was a loving husband and father and a devoted Paw Paw.
George is survived by his wife, Hazel Sniff, his children: Dave L. Sniff (Juanda Mills), Donald G. Sniff, Daniel E. Sniff (Joyce Hardman), Denise Manderfield (Paul), grandchildren: Shawn Sniff (Samantha), Amberlie Sniff, Ashley Escoe, Erin Bunch (T.J.), Rylee Sniff, Sydney Sniff, David Manderfield (Elizabeth), Kathleen Manderfield (Stephen Buehrer), Claire Manderfield, four great grandchildren, and brother, Gerald Sniff (Lola), along with numerous other extended family.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. at Tuckston United Methodist Church.
