George Calvin Slay

George Calvin Slay, 77, husband of the late Jane Deloris Slay, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016 after a brief illness. A native of Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late James C. Slay and Cecil McCannon Slay. George retired from Westinghouse after 39 years and was currently working at Ace Hardware Watkinsville. He was a member of East Athens Baptist Church. Survivors include his siblings: Wadine Branyon of Hull, Marvin Slay of Winterville, Louise Autry of Hull and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 2PM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Ray Wuerzer officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
