George Marshall Scott, Sr., age 86, passed away on July 10, 2018 surrounded by his three children.
A native of Athens and a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church, Athens, George was born on September 9, 1931 to Eugene Howard Scott, Sr. and Estelle Miller Scott, deceased. He graduated from Athens High School and the University of Georgia where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. George served in the United States Air Force as a pilot and supply officer. Following his time in the service, he worked in the textile industry and was an executive for Johnson & Johnson and later J.P. Stevens. He will be missed by many friends. Whether it was following his passion for duplicate bridge or attending theatre and musical performances each season, he brought a sense of gentle Southern grace and character to everything he did. Most notably, he always delivered his unconditional support and love when called upon by family or friends.
