George Thelbert Mosley, beloved husband, proud father, and American Patriot, was called home by our Heavenly Father on September 16, 2012.
A native of Louisville, Winston Co., Miss., he was the son of the late George Grisset and Nona Breland Mosley. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gudrun Geisinger Mosley; children, George T. Mosley and his wife, Hope, of Dalton, W. Timothy Mosley and his wife, Mary Susan, of Cordova, Tenn., Rebecca Mosley Yeomans and her husband, Herbert, of Watkinsville, and Diane Mosley, of Dalton; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two of six sisters: E. Merle Mosley Henry, of Carthage, Miss., and Dorothy Mosley Jordan and her husband, Paul, of Walnut Grove, Miss.; and one of three brothers: Edwin Theron Mosley and his wife, Betty, of Channelview, Texas. George's deep love for his family will not be forgotten.
George Mosley served his country for 35 years, entering the U.S. Navy at the age of 18. He served during World War II, participating in the Invasion of Normandy. Later, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Master Sergeant Mosley retired from the Army with 21 years of service. Using skills he learned during his military service, he continued to serve his county by instructing Tactical Microwave & Satellite Communications for the Signal School, at Fort Gordon.
After moving to Oconee County, he was active with the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, in Hephzibah, where he served for many years.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, at Georgia National Cemetery, 9310 Knox Highway, Canton.
