George Cecil Maxey

June 15, 1941 — August 6, 2018

George Cecil Maxey, 77, of Watkinsville, died Monday, August 6, 2018. Born in Oconee County, he was the son of the late James Carl Maxey and Ann Elizabeth Hammond Maxey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Elaine Saye Maxey and his siblings, James Maxey, Gloria Carson, and Carl "Mac" Maxey. Cecil worked as a Wildlife Technician at the University of Georgia. He retired from full time farming and as a bus driver with Oconee County School System. He attended Union Christian Church. Survivors include three children: Phillip Maxey of Watkinsville, Paul (Merry) Maxey of Bishop, and Amanda (John) Triano of Dacula, GA; five grandchildren: Tyler, Spencer, and Tucker Maxey and Maddie and Marc Triano; his sister: Shirley Seagraves of Statham and Nina Maxey (sister in law) of Watkinsville. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 at Oconee Memorial Park at 10am with Rev. Jane Hull officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville on Thursday, August 9, 2018.
