Watkinsville - George W. Krumm, 69, husband of Barbara Norris Krumm, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2009 at 2PM at the chapel of Lord & Stephens West with Rev. Tony Long officiating. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael Krumm, Isaac Krumm, Clifton Cabell, Bobby Dowden, Johnny Jackson and Larry Norris.
Born in Monroe, LA, he was the son of the late Chester W. and Pauline Wanless Krumm. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Wilbur Krumm. George graduated with honors from Northwestern State University in Louisiana with his BA and Masters in Science. He retired from the USDA FSIS at the Richard Russell Research Center of Athens as a Microbiologist in 1993, but continued as a Supervisor in the Can Lab until 1995. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Bishop, GA.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Curtis Krumm of Cumming, GA, Eric Krumm of Watkinsville, GA, sisters, Martha Cabell of Hackberry, LA, Trudy Dowden of Princeton, TX, and five grandchildren, Michael J. Krumm, Brittany Hendrix Krumm, Isaac J. Krumm, Lauren Krumm and Caitlynn Krumm.
Visitation will be held tonight, Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Gideon's International.
