George Conrad Green age 54 of Winterville died Thursday, July 12th, 2012. Born October 9th, 1957 in Milan, Indiana, the son of John E. and Dorothy L. (Stevenson) Green is survived by his wife of 9 years, Yenny M. (Vara) Green, and son, George S. Green, both of Winterville and son Hyatt C. Green (Olivia) of Cincinnati, Ohio; his mother Dorothy L. Green of Canaan, Indiana; two sisters: Terri K.Exmeyer (Clark) of Evansville, Indiana and Lorri D. Bartle (Don) of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother Robert J. Green (Dena) of Dover, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Green in 1987.
After graduating from South Ripley High School in Versailles, Indiana in 1976, Conrad attended Ball State University and the University of Georgia where he studied art and became a skilled potter. He fell in love with the people and culture of Athens, where he spent most of his adult life. He continued a career as a skilled craftsman by managing sales territory for Robert Bosch Tool Corporation through American Merchandising Specialists, Inc. He enjoyed renovating his home in Winterville and building projects with his young son, George. He loved his family and was always willing to help his friends and neighbors. He was a very easy-going man and was loved by many.
Visitation will begin at 12pm on Monday, July 16 at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home- East, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens. Graveside services will be at 2pm at Athens Memory Gardens also on Monday, July 16, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the George S. Green Education Fund. Contact family for further fund details.
Lord and Stephens EAST is in charge of arrangements.
