Mr.George Robert Escoe, age 59, passed away on September 11, 2006, at his home in Commerce, GA, beloved husband of Donna Phillips Escoe. In addition to his wife of 33 years, Mr. Escoe is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wesley Brent and Summer Escoe of Colbert, GA; and a daughter and son-in-law; Kasie and David Brown, of Hull, GA; his sisters, Peggy Escoe Lord (Tommy) and Debra Escoe Waldrop (Mark), both of Danielsville, GA; his father, Robert Lemuel Escoe of Danielsville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Freeman Escoe, and a sister, Joyce Escoe.
Mr. Escoe was born on December 24, 1946, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lemuel Escoe in Danielsville, Georgia. He was a graduate of Madison County High School and Athens Technical College. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and served on various committees. Mr. Escoe was employed by Reliance Electric, Athens, GA, as a design engineer for 27 years and recently by North Georgia Tractor, Cornelia, GA, as a sales representative.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East in Athens from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral services for Mr. Escoe will be held on Wednesday, September 13, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, Danielsville. Graveside services will immediately follow at Danielsville Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Athens Area Walk to Emmaus, C/O David Reeves, 1021 Longbranch Run, Watkinsville, GA 30677 or St. Mary's Hospice, 1230 Baxter Street, Athens, GA 30606.
