George Neal Callaway Sr., 88, of Comer, died Monday, December 21, 2015.
Born in White County, he was the son of the late Jim C. Callaway and Ellie Jane Helton Callaway. Mr. Callaway was a poultry farmer and cattleman for over forty years. He retired from Coggins Granite. He loved his dog, Black Jack, and most of all, he loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, George Neal Callaway Jr., four brothers, Mack, Ervin, James and Paul Callaway; and five sisters, Thelma Tucker, Methie Carter, Montine Tucker, Mamie Ogle and Minnie Lou Ogle.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Ginn Callaway; two sons, Loyd (Deborah) Callaway, and Tim (Hope) Callaway; three daughters, June (George) Parker, Joan (Neal) Doster, and Jean (Terry) Autry; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville with Rev. William Anglin officiating. Interment will follow in the Collier Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Ogle, Ken Callaway, Frankie Ogle, JB Bowen Jr., Bo Tucker and Ken Callaway. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Callaway, Steve Callaway, Larry Tucker, Ricky Tucker, Jimmy Tucker, Jeff Tucker, Wayne Callaway, Swayne Callaway, Jimmy Callaway and Mike Ogle. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service from 12 until 2.
