Geneva Lily Young Pierce, 87, of Athens, died January 7, 2018.
Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Hopie Nell Whitehead Young and widow of John Henry Pierce. Geneva loved the Atlanta Braves and working her puzzle books, and above all, her family.
Survivors include her children, Jennifer Ogle (Charles) of Winterville, Shirley Jean Pierce, Marcie Diane Lamey and David Keith Pierce, all of Athens; 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Rev. Bryan Townsend and Mr. John Ogle officiating. Interment will be at Ross Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Ogle, Jeremy Ogle, Eric Lamey, Jonathan Lamey, Bruce Lamey, Jr., and Bill Coleman. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Pierce and Leonard Pierce.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and will also be at the residence of Bill and Jeni Coleman. www.lordandstephens.com
