Athens, GA - Ivey E. (Gene) Bledsoe, 68, died September 26, 2006.
Born in Marion, NC, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lee Bledsoe and was preceded in death by a daughter, Catheleen Rena Ring. Mr. Bledsoe served 2 tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corps, having received the purple heart and bronze star. Following his military service, he retired from the U.S. Civil Service. Mr. Bledsoe is remembered as a loving husband, father and papa and cherished friend to many.
Memorial services will be Friday, September 28, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Bledsoe; son, Jeffery Randall Bledsoe (Jennifer) of Brunswick; grandchildren, Jessica Abigail Ring, Bethany Rhea Bledsoe, Gracie Madison Bledsoe and Ellie Caroline Bledsoe; sister, Bertha Lewis and brother, Larry Bledsoe.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the Georgia chapter of the Leukemia Society.
