Gediminas Jonas Bartkunas

Gediminas Jonas Bartkunas, age 83 of Winterville, GA, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018. Gediminas  was preceded in death by his parents, Mykolas and Stefanija Bartkunas; brothers, Jurgis and Julius. He is survived by his wife, Marija Vida Bartkuniene; daughters; Egle Abrutis and Kristina Sabonaitis; grandaughters; Ingrid, Karolina, and Julia; grandson, Thomas; great granddaughter, Ivy; and sister, Birute Rekasiene.

Gediminas was an engineer mechanic and driving instructor. He enjoyed rally race car driving, biking, swimming and always had a passion for the latest technology. When he was 5 years old the Russia invaded his home country of Lithuania. They sent Gediminas, his siblings, parents and many others into the cold Siberian wasteland to die. However, Gediminas did not die he survived and was able to share his story with his family and many others. He will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be Friday, October 5, 2018 at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home - East Chapel from 6PM-8PM. The family would like to invite those who are able to join them for a celebration of Gediminas life, Saturday, Oct 6 at 11am, at the home of Kristina and Kestutis Sabonaitis.
