Watkinsville - Gaynelle Roling Mize, 67, died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late William Matthew and Annie Sue Fortson Roling. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Buford Roling and sister, Carolyn Lester. She retired from Walton EMC after 23 years and was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church for 36 years, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Ron Mize; daughters: Karen (Greg) Sartain of Danielsville, Robin Mize of Statham, Marie (Matt) Maier of Watkinsville; sisters: Sue Manley of Lexington, S.C., Catherine Ayers of Athens; brother: Kenneth Roling of Winterville; grandchildren: Heather Whitehead, Jason Whitehead, Adam Sartain, Aaron Sartain, Allison Maier and Kaley Maier.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Mars Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Matthew Maier, Greg Sartain, Jason Whitehead, James Pentecost, Justin Roling, Bryan Barrett, Carlton Farmer and Jerry Willoughby.
Visitation will be held tonight, February 23, 2009 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the AlzheimerAssociation.
