Sarah Gaynell Floyd, age 86, of Lexington, GA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 8, 2023.
Born in Crawford, she was the daughter of the late William David Cooper and Viola Reynolds Cooper. She was a member of Crawford Baptist Church and taught an adult Sunday School class for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will also be remembered for her generosity in helping family and friends whenever there was a need, her love for antiques and antique jewelry, and her famous pecan pies!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Floyd; a son, Bobby Floyd; a grandson, Kenny Floyd; and two sisters, Barbara Goss and Ellen Coffee.
A Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 12:00 pm at Lord & Stephens East. The family will receive friends at Lord & Stephens from 11:00-12:00. Chris Bailey will be officiating the service with entombment to follow at Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include her children, Gail Floyd of Lexington; Kathy Fulton (Tim) of Fort Mill, SC; and Mark Floyd (Tami) of Lexington; 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Jean Swajger of Lexington, Jo Smith of Elberton, and Ann Lundebo of Crawford.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Scott Noltensmeier, Jonathan Fulton, Kevin Williams, Lamar Nelms, Derek Nelms, Mickey Martin, and Matt Fleming.
In lieu of flowers, a gift can be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
