Gaye Carson Barton

Gaye N. Carson Barton, 73, of Watkinsville died Friday, April 23, 2021.

She was born on July 17, 1947 to the late James and Leah Burger Carson. Gaye graduated from Oconee County High School Class of 1965. She married Perry Barton in 1971, and they had one daughter, Leah.

Gaye worked as an LPN for over 30 years until her retirement. She worked for numerous doctor’s offices, hospitals, and nursing homes. In her spare time, she loved gardening. After almost a lifetime in Watkinsville, she moved to Fayetteville in recent years to live with her daughter.

Along with her parents, Gaye was preceded in death by Perry Barton.

She is survived by her daughter, Leah Barton (Tommy Nash); four grandchildren: Beck, Emily, Finn, and Ryan Nash, all of Fayetteville; close cousin June Cunningham and her daughter Megan Puckett of Bishop; and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30 at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Farmington Cemetery.
