Gary Todd Lowen, born January 31, 1955, entered into his eternal home Saturday, November 5, 2016.

He was a beloved husband, father, step-father and grandfather. He was a deacon and an adult Sunday School teacher at Martin Baptist Church. Mr. Lowen served in the United States Army for 12 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was retired with 30 years of loyal service to the State of Georgia, employed by the Department of Family and Children Services. He was a special godly man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Dixie Lowen and his first wife, Debbie Lowen.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Gabriel Lowen of the home, five children, Christopher (Jennifer) Lowen of Jefferson, Jason Lowen (Leanne) of Madison, Lindsay Kauffman (Ryan) of Kennesaw, Julie Barnett (Kevin) of Colbert and Justin Barnett of Athens. He is also survived by his sister, Dixie Gardiner (Chris) of Woodstock, and eight grandchildren, Emily Barnett, Phillip, Krysta, Cassie, Sydney, and Averi Lowen and Kamryn and Claire Kauffman.

The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, East in Athens on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be at Lord and Stephens, East Chapel on Wednesday, November 9 at 1:00 pm with Dr. Roddy Turner and Rev. Roger Whiten officiating. Burial will be private at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Monroe.

Pallbearers will be deacons of the church with his Sunday School class as honorary pallbearers.

Lord and Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements.
