Garnett Newton "Bo" Gabriel

February 25, 1934 — November 29, 2013

Garnett Newton Gabriel, 79, died November 29, 2013.
A native of Winterville, he was a son of the late Julius M., Sr. and Mozelle Tucker Gabriel and was preceded in death by siblings, Thelma Gooch, Pat Gabriel, J.M. Gabriel, Jr. and William (Bob) Gabriel. Mr. Gabriel was retired from General Cable following 37 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Gabriel was a member of Sonlight Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Gabriel was an avid gardener and Atlanta Braves fan.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Doris A. Gabriel; children, James E. Gabriel (Sherrie), Robbin G. Wilkes (Jamie), A. Keith Gabriel (Royce), Rusty Gabriel (Jerri Lynn), and Rhonda G. Doster (Derek); grandchildren, Trent Wilkes (Brittany), Brett Gabriel (Ashley), Clay Gabriel, Jessica Gabriel, Lindsay Gabriel, Gabriel Doster, Colt Doster, Caroline Gabriel and Beau Gabriel; great grandchildren, Gavin Gabriel and Brogen Gabriel; siblings, Sybil Gooch, Betty Anderson, Donald Gabriel, Doris Ann "Dot" Busbin, Carole Jean Pattinson, Harry Gabriel and Larry Gabriel and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Rev. Nathan Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Winterville Cemetery.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM and Sunday from 1:30 until 2:30 PM.
