Gail S. Borden

Gail S. Borden, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 1, 2016. He was born on October 31, 1928 in Cordova, AL, and was the son of the late Guy and Welland Strickland Borden. In 1960, Gail and his parents moved to Watkinsville, GA for his father to take the position of Cashier for the newly opened Oconee State Bank. Gail had a kind and gentle spirit. He enjoyed spending time on special occasions and holidays, and generously sharing Christmas gifts, with his adoptive families of Bob Bishop, Bill Bishop and Kay Shepard and their children. In his later years in life, he appreciated relationships with many of his neighbors and friends who assisted with meals and providing care for him. He was a long time member of Watkinsville First Baptist Church. He is survived by three cousins, Peyton Bobo of Millport, AL, Dr. Bethany W. Engle of Buhl, AL and Charles Matthews of Midlothian, VA. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Millport Cemetery in Millport, AL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Watkinsville First Baptist Church Missions Fund, 1610 Simonton Bridge Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
