Frederick Wayne Long

Frederick Wayne Long, 75, husband of Gail Malcom Long, died Friday, December 28, 2018. Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Homer Long and Hazel Jackson Long.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings; Robert Long of Hartwell, Ray Long of Farmington, Joyce Harrison of Charlotte, NC and Cherry Bramlett of Bogart.  Wayne was a member and deacon of Living Word Baptist Church.  He was a retired grocery store manager having worked at Food Giant for 21 years, Bells for 20 years and most recently after retirement he worked at Academy Sporting Goods for 5 years.  Wayne was a true man of God and mentored others using his love for the outdoors through hunting and fishing.  Survivors in addition to his wife Gail include two children: Jason (Rhonda) Long of Winterville and Ginger (Todd) Hubbard of Flowery Branch and three grandchildren: Tyler, Logan and Faith Hubbard.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 3PM at Living Word Baptist Church with Pastors Daniel Waters and Larry Davison officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wayne's beloved church,  Living Word Baptist Church, P.O.
