Fred Thomas "Tom" (Tom) White

Fred Thomas (Tom) White, 86, died February 24, 2012.
A native of Lithonia, GA, he was a son of the late Gettie Bell and Fred Thomas White, Sr. and was preceded in death by a son, Larry Thomas White, and sister, Mary Evelyn Hammonds.
Mr. White retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant Major and received numerous awards including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal. Mr. White also retired from the United States Postal Service.
Mr. White moved from Toccoa to Winterville in 2002. He was a member of the Winterville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he currently served as an Elder in the Congregation.
Memorial services will be Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Winterville, 1224 Moores Grove Road, Winterville, GA 30683.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Jeanette "Jan" Anglin White; two sons and daughter-in-law, Dana Lee White and Daryl Eugene (Linda) White; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 28 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, 2821 Route 22, Patterson, NY 12563-2237.
