Fred M. Lyda, 73, died Monday, April 4, 2011.
Fred was born in Buncombe County, NC and was a graduate of Western Carolina University. He did graduate work at the University of Georgia and retired as director of UGA Marine Extension Program in 1998. Fred had many friends and was always ready with a story, a joke and a laugh. He loved helping people and did many acts of kindness. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sales Lyda; daughter, Roxanne Lyda; son, Mark Lyda.
