Fred P. Brooks, 87, died peacefully after a brief illness on February 3, 2015.
A native of Charlotte, NC, he was a son of the late Fred. P. Brooks, Sr. and Lucile Wallace Brooks. He was also preceded in death by two former wives, Joy Patterson and Maxine H. Brooks, the mother of their three children; and a sister, Lufred B. Potts. He lived in the Athens area for the last ten years after spending over seventy five years as a resident of Decatur.
Mr. Brooks was a paratrooper in the United States Army and was a manufacturing sales representative as long as his health permitted. He enjoyed traveling and was a "Friend of Bill W." for forty-seven years.
Memorial services will be Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Decatur Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three children, Celia Brooks (Thomas Popps) of Watkinsville, Chandler Brooks (Chuck) Rosenberger of Watkinsville and Fred P. Brooks, III (Jan Jensen) of Tucker; sister, Betty Ann Brooks of Athens; five grandchildren, Eli Lorrain, Micah Rosenberger, Lenny Popps, Clair Brooks Bertram, Lucy Brooks; four great grandchildren; one nephew, John (Betsy) Potts of Lebanon, IN; beloved cat, Babe.
Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
