Franklin Fortson

Franklin Fortson, 85, of Danielsville, went to be with Jesus on Friday, August 11, 2023.

A lifelong resident of Madison County, he was a son of the late Will David Fortson and Lucy Caudell Fortson. Mr. Fortson started Fortson Well Drilling in 1981 and operated the business until his retirement in 2012. He thrived on time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Fortson.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Johnson Fortson; one son and daughter-in-law, Barry Franklin Fortson and Christina Fortson; one sister, Evelyn Guest; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Anna Fortson Bonnema and Brent Bonnema and Erica Fortson Moon and Joseph Moon; seven great-grandchildren, Lena, Hank, Willa and Frankie Bonnema and Ezra, Isaiah and Hazel Moon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Robby Brown and Rev. Ben Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Meadow Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Moon, Brent Bonnema, Alex Bonds, Justin Bonds, Gerad Pearson, Ethan South and Johnny Stowe. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the church.
