Frank Lafayette O'Kelley

Frank Lafayette O’Kelley, 88, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021.

A lifelong resident of Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late Dock and Ruby O’Kelley. Frank was a Veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force where he served from 1953 until 1959. He was employed by Westinghouse in Athens for more than 30 years. He was an avid gardener and he loved to share his produce. Frank was a Christian and was a faithful member of Collier Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved his family and community and was always willing to lend a helping hand. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Norman O’Kelley; siblings, AnnaRuby Hamby, Harold O’Kelley (survived by wife, Kris), Winona Gibson, brothers-in-law, Archie Gibson and Horace Hamby and sisters-in-law, Trudy Norman Jones and Barbara O’Kelley.

Survivors include his children, Julie O’Kelley of Smyrna, GA, Michael O’Kelley (Karen) of Kennett Square, PA and Shannon O’Kelley Bowman (Winton Jr.) of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Caitlin O’Kelley-Gauss (Raphael) of Alpharetta, GA, Olivia Bowman and Winton Bowman, III of Canton, GA; siblings, Jean Sanders (Ray) and Benny O’Kelley and brothers-in-law, Jack Norman (Linda) and Lee Norman (Claudette).

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 3:30 pm at Lord and Stephens, East. Interment will follow in the Sandy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 until 3:30 pm at the funeral home.
