Frances "Bert" Alberta (Stovall) Wofford

Frances Alberta “Bert” Stovall Wofford, 93, of Danielsville, died on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

Born in Madison County to the late George Nelson Stovall and Fannie S. Stevenson Stovall, Bert worked her entire career as a registered nurse in the Athens area. She served as Director of Nurses at Athens General Hospital and at Athens Heritage Nursing Facility. She was a member of Ila Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, Bert was preceded in death by three husbands: Bernard Whitley, William Barrett, and James Wofford; her sister, Elizabeth “Lib” Chandler; and her brother, Thomas Nelson Stovall.

Bert is survived by her two sons, Thomas Steven Whitley and William Bryan Whitley; her sister, Anne S. Epps; grandchildren: Shawn Bernard Whitley, Waylon Bryce Whitley, and Justyn Ryan Whitley; great-grandchildren: Karissa Elaine Whitley, Roy Gene Whitley, and Raelyn Leann Whitley.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Ila Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m.
