Athens - Frances Moore Robertson died January 14, 2008.
Daughter of the late Alvin and Ruth Brown Moore, she was born May 18, 1920, grew up in Decatur, and graduated from Decatur Girls High. She attended Georgia State College for Women and the University of Georgia. As she raised her family, she lived in various parts of Georgia, settling in Athens in 1963. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Ruth Moore Gaddis, Alvin Moore, Jr., and Davis Moore.
Survivors include three daughters: Eugenia Robertson Thompson, Athens; Florence Robertson (Joel Rudy), Glade Spring, Va.; Joan Robertson (Ted Chin), Augusta; three grandchildren: Colin Thompson (Kelly), Augusta; Fran Thompson (Adam Cain), Oxford, Ga., and Eli Collins, Athens; and two great grandchildren: Benjamin Thompson, Augusta, and Ella Cain, Oxford.
The body was cremated. A private family memorial service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thornwell Home for Children, P.O. Box 60, Clinton, SC 29325-0060 (www.thornwell.org), an organization she supported since she was a child.
