Frances Buchanan

Mary Frances Vinson Buchanan, age 91, left for Heaven on February 19, 2017.

Born October 27, 1925 in Mallorysville, GA, she was married to Cate Warren Buchanan. The daughter of the late Oscar Lee Vinson and Mae Harris Vinson, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Vinson, Jr. A longtime resident of Maxeys, GA, she graduated from Bowman High School in Bakersville, NC, Mars Hill College, Mars Hill, NC and Winkles School of Electrology, Atlanta, GA. She owned Buchanan's Electrolysis in Athens, GA for eighteen years and was a past secretary of the Georgia Electrolysis Association. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Union Point, GA. In addition to her parents and brothers, Mrs. Buchanan is preceded in death by her husband, C.W. "Buck" Buchanan and son, Warren Lee Buchanan.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Carol C. Buchanan of Athens, GA, son, Charles Jeffrey Buchanan and wife, Robbie of Maxeys, GA, daughter, Christie B. Slay and husband Scott of Marietta, GA; grandsons, Nicholas Lee Buchanan, Edwin Vinson Buchanan, Richard LeBeau Slay; two granddaughters, Cate Savannah Buchanan and Mary Chanan Slay Gilbert; two great grandsons, Chase Wilson and Beckett Lee Buchanan; two great granddaughters, Charlie Blair Hardman and Hadleigh Addison Gilbert.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
