Bishop, GA - Frances W. Ashley, 74, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2007. She passed peacefully from this life at home with her family at her side.
Born in Rutherford, AL, she was the daughter of the late Albert Terrell Walker, Sr. and Fannie Mae Howard Walker and was preceded in death by siblings, Albert Terrell Walker, Jr. and Clara Ann Turner. Since 1968 she made her home in Athens and later in Oconee County and was a member of Union Christian Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Rev. Troy Tatum officiating. Interment will be in Union Christian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Allen, Earl Elsner, Eric Elsner, Neal Lord, Montgomery Shelnutt, and David Vaughn.
Survivors include her husband, Doyle A. Ashley; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Jennifer Ashley of Bogart, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Ashley and Tom Diess of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Sunny Ashley, Schuyler Diess and Muriel Diess; brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Lonita Walker of Preston, GA; sister-in-law Peggy Walker of Preston, GA; brother-in-law Conrad Turner of Mobile, AL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
Flowers are optional. If you so desire, memorials may be made to Union Christian Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
