Frances Gilstrap Abney

Crawford - Frances Gilstrap Abney, 84, of Quiet Oaks Health Care Center, Crawford, GA, died Friday, February 10, 2006. Mrs. Abney was a native of Floyd County, GA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raiden Mathis Abney.
Funeral services will be Sunday, February 12, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Richard McFall, Rev. Tony Cowan, and Rev. Billy John Abney officiating. Interment will be in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Abney, Neil Abney, Rob Durden, Kris Phillips, Mike Abney, and Gene Hughes. Honorary pallbearers: nieces and nephews.
Survivors include a son, Sherrill F. Abney, Arnoldsville; a daughter, Marie A. Durden, Athens; a sister, Viola G. Abney, Rome; four grandchildren, one step grandchild, eight great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the residence of Sherrill and Kay Abney, 161 Lakeside Drive, Arnoldsville, and will receive friends Saturday, February 11, 2006 at Lord and Stephens East from 4:00 until 6:00 PM.
