Lula Florence Williams, 85, of Athens, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 after an extended illness; and is now in her Heavenly home rejoicing with family members and loved ones at her home coming.
Born January 21, 1931 in Danielsville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Milton Strickland and Mattie Elliese Conwell Strickland. Mrs. Williams was a loving mother and grandmother, lifelong member of the Moon's Grove Baptist Church, an accomplished seamtrice, and a fastidious homemaker who seemed the happiest when working the flowers in her yard that she enjoyed so much. Mrs. Williams also loved her friends and the fellowship of those members of the Georgia Square Mall Walkers Group of which she was a charter member. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her first husband, George W. Archer; and by her second husband, Dr. William L. Williams.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas D. "Tom" Archer (Edna) of Greenville, SC, and James S.Archer of Athens, GA; and a daughter, Lisa A. Leighton of Scottsdale, AZ. Mrs. Williams is also survived by one brother, Joe Paul Strickland (Peggy); ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at at the Moon's Grove Baptist Church, Danielsville, GA, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
