Evelyn Lee Hardigree, 92 of Watkinsville, passed away August 9, 2017. She was the daughter of the late, William Walter & Gertrude Lee. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas E. Hardigree and a brother, Will Ervin Lee.
Evelyn was born August 26, 1924 in Banks County, and was a resident of Oconee County for over 80 years.
Evelyn retired from C & S Bank after 38 years of loyal service, in which she wore many hats.
Evelyn was an active member of Watkinsville Baptist Church for man years, and then became a
charter member of Watkinsville Memorial Baptist Church, where she was an active member up until the last few years. Evelyn served as the Church treasurer, and at one time was a Sunday School Teacher.
She worked as an ACTS volunteer for many years, was always willing to help anyone in need. Evelyn was also a member of the Watkinsville Garden Club. She had a Green Thumb, and grew Beautiful Roses and always had a large vegetable garden.
Evelyn enjoyed going to the Oconee County Senior Citizen center and participating in crafting classes and being with her friends. Evelyn enjoyed a variety of crafts, she loved to sew, quilt, embroidery, and board games.
Evelyn had a zest for life, and was a kind, gentle person, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services are Saturday 11:00am August 12, 2017 at Lord & Stephens, West chapel with Rev. Jimmy Edwards officiating. The family will visit at the funeral home Friday August 11, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include: Sons, Ronnie (Linda) Hardigree, Eddie (Karen) Hardigree; brother, Walter (Delores) Lee; sister in law, Joan Lee (spouse of Will Ervin Lee); granddaughters, Michelle Hardigree (Brad) Young, Audrey Hardigree; great grandson, Thomas Young; extended family, Eric & Megan Bertot; numerous nephews, nieces and their families.
