Athens - Eugenia Fox Yates, 90, died May 7, 2007.
Born in Dallas County, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Wiley Williams and Adele Ward Fox and widow of Millard Henry Yates. Mrs. Yates was a longtime resident of Alexander City, Ala. She moved to Athens in 2001 to be near her daughter and was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Yates was devoted to family and had a true passion for gardening and bridge.
The family will receive friends at 12:00p.m., on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at the First Presbyterian Church, Alexander City, Alabama. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. The Reverend Charles Cook will be officiating. Interment will be in Alexander City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Thomas I. Fox, James W. Hodo, William E. Hodo, David Ward Hodo, David William Hodo, Duncan Crowder, Stephen F. McGhee, and William E. Hopper
Survivors include her children, William Fox Yates (Margaret), of Richmond, Va., Martha Y. Elmore (Randy) of Athens, Ga., and Millard Henry Yates, Jr., of Atlanta; grandchildren, William Henry Yates, Marc E. Yates, Calvin Lee Elmore, and Ellen Eugenia Elmore; and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Central Presbyterian Church, 380 Alps Road, Athens, GA 30606, First Presbyterian Church, 371 Jefferson St., Alexander City, AL 35010 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
