Maxeys, GA - Esper Eugene "Gene" Channell, 90, died February 3, 2012.
Born in Maxeys, he was the son of the late Esper Eugene and Berta Maxey Channell and widower of Shirley Elaine Schuldt Channell. Mr. Channell was a WW II veteran and retired from the U.S. Navy following 20 years of service. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and lifetime member of American Legion. Mr. Channell was a member of Maxeys Christian Church.
Survivors include his son, Ray Channell.
Graveside services will be Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Cemetery, Maxeys.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Lord and Stephens Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
