Eugene Carlton Brown

Eugene Carlton Brown of Hull, Georgia, age 88 passed away on May 12, 2024.  

A native of Madison County, he was born September 29, 1935, in the Community of Fort Lamar.  Eugene was the son of the late Colton and Willie Sue Scoggins Brown.  He was married to his high school sweetheart, Martha Carol Fleeman, for 64 years.  She preceded him in death on April 4, 2020. 

He leaves behind three children: Dennis Brown (Brenda), Stephen Brown (April), Cindy Daniel (Darrell); Grandchildren: Daniel Brown, Joshua Brown, Seth Brown (Lauren), Iris Wright (Zack), JoAnna Manard (Benjamin), Justin Daniel (Katie), Jennifer Huffman (Russell); Great-grandchildren: Amelia and Stella Brown, Waylon and Magnolia Wright, Walter and Mary Beth Manard.

Survivors also include sisters:  Sulene Colquitt, Geraldine Seagraves (G. T.), Christine Burroughs (Dennis). Eugene is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his sister Linda Gordon and brothers-in-laws, Ernest Palmer, Willis Colquitt and James Gordon.  

Eugene graduated from Ila High School in 1954. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, Kaiserslautern, Germany, and was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for thirty-seven years.  After retiring, Eugene enjoyed his poultry and cattle farm. He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Neese.   

A private family graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons:  Seth Brown, Daniel Brown, Joshua Brown, Justin Daniel, Benjamin Manard, Zack Wright, and Russell Huffman.
