Etrulia "Trudy" Ann (Shook) Hancock

August 1, 1941 — October 13, 2022

Etrulia Ann Shook Hancock, 81, affectionately known as “Trudy” to friends and family and “TruTru” to her beloved grandchildren, took her last earthly breath on October 13, 2022.

She was born to the late Eleanor Haggard Mize and Herbert Alexander Shook on August 1, 1941. Trudy attended Chase Street Elementary School and Athens High School where she met many lifelong friends.  She is survived by her children Susan Tolbert (Russell) and Mike Hancock (Miranda); her grandchildren Lauren Tolbert McCoy (Matthew), Alison Tolbert, Nash Hancock, Brooks Hancock, Landry Hancock; and great-granddaughter Emery Ann McCoy.  She is also survived by her sister Yvonne Bird; niece and nephew Leslie Whitehead-O’Neal and David Whitehead; and step-brother Wayne Lester (Cindy). Trudy loved her family, especially her grands, and her friends with all her heart.

Trudy spent her career in sales, claiming she “sold love” as she was a certified diamontologist with Friedman’s and then Kay Jewelers.  Trudy was a friend to many and loved to be “on the go” for much of her life.  Honorary pallbearers are friends from the Athens High Hens group and friends and staff from Wesley Woods of Athens.

The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens East from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2022, with a graveside service at 3:30 pm at Athens Memory Gardens.  Trudy loved flowers, so they are welcome, but she also loved her community at Wesley Woods, so donations to the Foundation of Wesley Woods, 1817 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA 30329, are also appreciated.

Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, Athens, GA is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com
