Lexington - Ernestine Faust Mathews died at home April 22, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was six days shy of her 90th birthday.
Born April 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Louellen L. Faust. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Mathews; two sons, Charles E. and W. Howard Mathews and one brother, Howard P. Faust.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Glade Baptist Church with Revs. David Burt and George Ormsbee officiating. Burial will be in Mathews Family Cemetery, Carlton, GA.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include daughters and spouse, Dyanne (Ronald) M. Mize of Winterville, LynAnne Mathews of Lake Ann, Michigan; son and spouse, Alvin (Ellen) Mathews of the home; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Joyce Mathews of Lexington, Linda Mathews of Comer; brother, James A. Faust (Jo) of Lexington; many nieces and nephews and a special caregiver, Gail Wood of Athens.
The family received friends Wednesday from 7 thru 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glade Baptist Church or St. Marys Hospice.
Lord & Stephens Oglethorpe Chapel, Crawford, is in charge of arrangements.
