Athens - Emmett R. Winn, 75, died March 14, 2007.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Dave S. and Zora Maxwell Winn and preceded in death by brothers, Walter, Maxwell, Hoil, Hugh, and Lawrence Winn. He made his home in Athens for 51 years and attended Green Acres Baptist Church. Mr. Winn was retired from National Life and Accident Insurance Company and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 16, 2007 at 3:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST. Revs. Fred Rowell and Jerry Horton will officiate. Interment will be in Carlton Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Doris Gunter Winn; children, Greg (Vicki) Winn, of Jefferson, Melanie (Rusty) Savage, of Watkinsville, Roxanne Glover, of Athens and Steve (Carla) Winn, of Winterville; sisters, Mildred Crook, of Loganville and Elizabeth Doolittle, of Athens; brothers, Olis H. Winn, of Carlton and Hollis Winn, of Washington; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Lord & Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
