Hull - Emma Sue Sughrue, 90, wife of the late Joseph C. Sughrue, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Madison County she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Clara Spratlin Burroughs. Sue was also preceded in death by her sisters; Rebecca Burroughs, Sarah Burroughs and brothers; Harry Burroughs, Leroy Burroughs and Spurgeon Burroughs. She was a member of Joy Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons; Jim Sughrue of Raleigh, NC and Ed Sughrue of McMinnville, TN, sisters; Ruth Burroughs of Athens and Irene Strickland of Colbert, and seven grandchildren; Jim Sughrue, Jr., Heather Yates, Erica Sughrue, Lindsey Sughrue, Alyssa Sughrue, Allen Holland and Paige Holland; great-grandchildren, Killian Flood, Tiernan Flood, Breccan Flood and Aubrey Holland.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 11 AM at Joy Baptist Church with Pastor Barry D. Black officiating. Burial was held at Evergreen Memorial Park. Grand Nephews and the Hannah Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers.
Pallbearers include Ray Anderson, Mike Burroughs, Pete Burroughs, Steve Filkins, Arnold Strickland and Denver Strickland.
Memorials may be made to Joy Baptist Church Building Fund, 1135 Glenn Carrie Road, Hull, GA 30646.
