Emily Anne Brooks Huff passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, July 18, 2012.
Emily was born January 29, 1920 in Wilkes County, Georgia, the daughter of Rentie Jo McCurdy Brooks and Joseph Theodric Brooks. She graduated from Elberton High School in 1937 and married Richard Palmer Huff on November 21, 1940.
After settling in Danielsville, Mrs. Huff worked in the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation office in Madison County for 25 years, retiring in 1980. She was a faithful member and tireless volunteer at the Danielsville Baptist Church teaching Sunday school and serving as president of the Women's Missionary Society. She also worked on the Madison County Courthouse Revitalization committee and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Emily will always be remembered for her wonderful hospitality and her devotion to her family. Her hobbies included floral arranging of dried and fresh flowers and she took special delight in the seasonal decoration of the front porch of her Moseley Drive home.
Funeral services will be 11AM Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel. Rev. John Reeser will officiate. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8PM Friday at the funeral home.
She was predeceased by her son, Richard Palmer Huff, Jr. and is survived by her husband, Richard Palmer Huff of Danielsville; brother, Wilbur Clinton Brooks of Atlanta; son, Charles McCurdy Huff and his wife Rhonwyn Valdes Huff; and two grandchildren, Emily Palmer Huff and Joseph Moran Huff all of Charleston, South Carolina.
