Eloise Evans, 78, of Winterville, GA, passed away on July 29, 2023. Born on January 13, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Henry Asbury Toney and Winnie Tidwell Toney.
Eloise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She considered family as the most important thing in her life which is where all her interest and passions laid. There was never a time that you would not see her sitting on the sidelines with the biggest smile proudly cheering each of us on. Though she came from humble beginnings, she never put herself first, but worked to make certain everyone else, including her animals, had the best life could offer them.
Childhood memories consisted of making a big deal of the first day of Summer and being able to go barefoot, not wearing white after Easter, getting all the necessary back to school clothes and supplies was very important, making sure that her daughters and grandchildren knew how to dance with the BeeGee’s, having the right “hickory switch” to keep us in check even making us pick our own at times, making mudpies after it rained, teaching us to take time to watch the clouds and see what we could make of them, peeking through the window to be certain that our first day of school went well, going to the Dairy Queen on Sunday’s for ice cream, letting us eat honey suckles and plums from the vine, sitting down and going through the Sear’s Wish Book to make our Christmas list, teaching us different tricks to spell and learn math, blowing dandelions and catching fire fly’s and tadpoles, being sprayed with “skin so soft”, doing crafts, special breakfast “dippie eggs”, singing lullabies and reading bedtime stories. These were only a few of the best memories she help make.
She had a passion for cooking and you would never enter her home without seeing a cookbook/recipe nearby or the TV tuned to a cooking channel.
She was a member of Johnson Drive Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir with a joyful noise. Up until her death she constantly spoke of these times fondly and with great love in her heart for her church family, but most importantly her Lord and Savior.
The world has lost a person of pure heart and love for others but Heaven has gained a soul that will glorify her greatest love, Jesus, for eternity.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Evans; daughter, Misty Evans; siblings, Delano (Nina) Toney, Doris (J. Franklin) Woods; nieces and nephews, Vickie Jean Toney, Ray Woods, Martha Pullman.
Survivors include her daughters, Krystal (Tom) Pintar, Karen (John) Scoville, sister, Bonnie Poulnott; grandchildren, Erek (Shelley) Scoville, Erin Hale, Lee Pintar; great grandchildren, Olive Scoville, John A. Scoville; nieces and nephews, Buddy Toney, Mickey Toney, Phyllis Powell (Freddy), Jeff Poulnott, Wendy Edge (Russell).
