Elmer Payne

Elmer Payne, 90, died Friday, January 29, 2016. Born in Athens, he was the son of Lessie Payne Alewine. He retired from McGregor and was a member of the Athens Moose Lodge 767. Survivors include his wife, Lottie Whitehead; children: Dorothy Thompson of Athens, Annie Mae Butler of Athens, Peggy (Ron) Hunt of Hull, Shirley (Herman) Johnson of Carlton, Steve (Gale) Whitehead of Gillsville; grandchildren: Carol (Grayson)Bugg, Wes (Allison) Thompson, Deborah (Donny) Allen, Tonya (John) Winters, Shane (Crystal) Pursley, Derrick Berryman, Alesha (Frankie) Ogle, Geina (KElley) Slayton, Chad Bryant, Steven Whitehead, Crystal (Bruce) Sheridan and great grandchildren: Bradley (Monica) Bugg, Bryan Bugg, Hannah Thompson, Trip Thompson and Daniel Allen. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 at 2PM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Rick Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6PM on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the funeral home.
